Using Inventory Rules

Keep stock accurate automatically: when an order reaches a stage, move item quantities between stock buckets β€” with reset-to-avoid-double-count and low-stock alert defaults.

Inventory Rules keep your stock counts accurate automatically as orders move through your pipeline. Instead of manually adjusting stock, you tell eGrow: “when an order reaches this stage, move each item's quantity from one stock bucket to another.” Set them up under Settings → Order Pipeline → Inventory Rules (https://v2.egrow.com/settings/order-pipeline/inventory-rules).

How a rule works

Click Create Rule and set:

  • When an order reaches β€” the stage that triggers the rule (for example Confirmed or Shipped).
  • Move stock out of β€” the bucket the units leave. Choose None to only add stock, not remove it.
  • Move stock into β€” the bucket the units go into. Choose None to only remove stock, not add it.
  • Reset earlier moves first β€” before this rule runs, undo the stock moves this order already made at earlier stages, so the same units are never counted twice.
  • Enabled β€” turn the rule on or off.

Chaining a few rules gives you a live, honest picture of stock at every step β€” for example, reserve units when an order is confirmed, and release or deduct them when it ships, returns, or cancels.

Low-stock alerts

Set a Low stock alert default β€” eGrow notifies you when a tracked variant's available stock drops to this quantity. Each product can override the default, and setting it to 0 disables alerts for that item. It's the simplest way to never run out of a best-seller.

Tip: always turn on Reset earlier moves first for rules on later stages. It's what stops an order from double-deducting stock as it moves forward or bounces between stages.

What's next

Inventory rules build on your order pipeline and your product catalog β€” set those up first, then layer rules on top.
