Many merchants worry that automating WhatsApp will get their number banned. That fear is well founded โ but it applies to unofficial tools, not to the official API. eGrow sends through Meta's official WhatsApp Business API.
Where the real risk is
- Tools such as Wasender, Wapi and similar imitate a human using the app. Meta detects this and bans the number.
- They are explicitly against WhatsApp's terms โ there is no safe way to use them at volume.
- The official API, which eGrow uses, is the sanctioned way to automate and carries no such penalty.
What can still get you restricted on the official API
- Messaging people who never opted in.
- A high rate of blocks and reports from recipients โ this is what Meta actually watches.
- Content that breaches the Commerce Policy.
- Sending the same promotional template to a large cold list.
How to stay safe
- Collect opt-in and be able to show how you got it.
- Keep your quality rating green โ watch it in Account Quality.
- Make the first message useful rather than promotional.
- Give people an easy way to stop hearing from you, and honour it immediately.
Good to know: Automation is not the risk. Messaging people who did not ask to hear from you is the risk โ on any platform, with any tool.
